3. Whitirea Inland Track

January 3

We started by the boat sheds on Onepoto Street, Titahi Bay. The part of the track that runs next to the harbour and around the coast is flat.  About 10 minutes in, you come to a fork in the path, and we decided to take the inward track as the weather was quite breezy.

It is a nice, steady, meandering slope upwards and then a wee bit a steep on the downwards side. But you do get a lovely view of Onehunga Bay. When our kids were little, this was our favourite beach to come to, as it is very calm and usually pretty quiet.

My favourite view is at the start of the inland track. I love the way the reeds move in the wind.

This is a loop track and the rest of the walk follows the coastline,

11 000 steps
