1. Porirua Scenic Reserve

 January 1

We started at Rangitahu St.

After a quite easy start you have a quite steep ascent, then a really nice walk along the top of the ridge (but still in the bush), for a good 10 - 15 minutes. Then it is a bit up and down.

We got to the end of the reserve track and must have missed the linking track over to Colonial Knob where we had planned to turn around. Instead we ended up on a really steep track where we had to use trees to pull ourselves up or stop ourselves from falling - I only fell once!. Pushed our way out way through bush and onto Colonial Knob track. Went down track and back to start via streets of Elsdon.

We didn't meet a single person on the reserve track but the Knob track was very busy and we exchanged many New Years Greetings :)

12 000 steps
