2. Hutt River Trail - Avalon to Silverstream

January 2

The track starts off with a nice wide track that runs near the river, but you are cut off from a direct view of the river by trees. Plenty of little pathways down to the river though. Fairly soon into the walk you can choose to walk along the grass or on a roadway. The nicest part of the walk was when the path moves down next to the river just past past the Stokes Valley turn off.

We walked as far as the the Silverstream bridge and intended to cross and walk back down the other side but there is no river access because of a golf course. So we walked back the same way except around Taita we moved onto this raised walkway which meant you could see the river on one side and houses on the other.

Weather was fairly hot and still which made it a little hard going. Had blisters all over my heels by the end of it.

23 000 steps
